Black Sheep Young Company (BSYC) have shown immense resilience demonstrating the true meaning of being part of a 'Young Company' over the last few months. During the first lockdown, they continued to work online ...
Since then, as restrictions eased, we have been able to deliver work in person, and the members have solidified the ensemble. In doing this, and demonstrating a powerful group ethos, we have managed to secure a spot to perform in next year's National Theatre Connections Festival.
BSYC will be performing 'Look Up!' by Andrew Muir, one of ten new plays commissioned by The National Theatre. They will showcase this early next year in a home venue in Milton Keynes. The show will then be transferred to the Royal and Derngate Theatre in Northampton for a regional showcase.
Black Sheep Collective aims to offer performance opportunities for young people to share their voices, opinions, points of view, experiences, thoughts, feelings and contribute to the social rhetoric.
Unfortunately due to the new government guidelines, we are now rehearsing online once again. We are seeing this as an opportunity to use technology to build the world of the play in a new and unique way, creatively overcoming the obstacles that have emerged at present.
We still have places available to take part in the National Theatre Connections Festival. If you are 13-19 years old and have an interest in performing theatre, tech or design and would like to join Black Sheep Young Company, we'd love to hear from you.
